Three Chinese warships have recently concluded a five-day visit to Nigeria, a move that the Chinese government believes will bolster the relationship between the two nations and their naval forces, as well as boost maritime security.
The Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China, Ms Yan Yuqing, spoke from the GDNL terminal in Apapa, Lagos, as the leading warship, MSL Destroyer NANNING, embarked on its journey home.
She expressed that the visit will also foster socio-economic ties between China and Nigeria. This visit, being the third of its kind by the Chinese Military in Nigeria, involved various activities with both navies, including tug exercises and a visit to a Lagos primary school where donations were made by the Nigerian Navy.
Yuqing emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between China and Nigeria, and expressed that the visit was successful in promoting friendship and cooperation.
