After helping Argentina win the World Cup last month, Lionel Messi has returned to the Paris Saint-Germain training facility.
"Welcome back Leo,"
read a tweet from the club's official account on Wednesday, along with a clip of the 35-year-old walking into the complex.
Images of Messi being greeted by teammates in the locker room, including Brazilian sensation Neymar, are shown in a separate post.
Messi's return to the French club comes at a crucial moment for the squad, which last weekend lost to Lens for the first time this year. As a result, PSG's lead at the top of the Ligue 1 standings has been reduced to only four points.
Friday's French Cup match against Chatearoux is the team's next match, which might be too soon for Messi.
On the same day that he returned to Paris, Cristiano Ronaldo, a longtime adversary, made his debut with Al Nassr, his new club.
Following his highly publicized departure from Manchester United in November of last year, the Portugal star signed with the Saudi Arabian club last week.
And on Tuesday, the 37-year-old was introduced to the Riyadh crowd, citing his numerous on-field successes as the reason he left Europe.
"I'm so proud to make this big decision in my life, in football ... In Europe, my work is done. I won everything,"
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner said.
"I played for the most important clubs in Europe and for me now, it's a new challenge."
Ronaldo added:
"I had many opportunities in Europe, many clubs -- in Brazil, in Australia, US, even in Portugal -- many clubs tried to sign me, but I give the word to this club for the opportunity."
